Child safety standards
Zero tolerance
Viska prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) of any kind. Anything involving it is removed and leads to an immediate, permanent ban. Viska is for adults only: you must be 18 or older to use it.
What is not allowed
- Sexual content involving anyone under 18, including written descriptions.
- Grooming: building a connection with a minor in order to exploit them.
- Sextortion, or threatening to share intimate material.
- Trafficking, or offering or seeking access to children.
- Sharing or asking for child sexual abuse material, or saying where to find it.
- Normalising or praising the abuse of children.
Survivors may talk about what happened to them, and how it felt, without graphic detail. Viska exists so people can say hard things, and that includes this.
How to report it
In the app, tap the three dots on any post or comment and choose Report. People who are not on Viska can email contact@viskachat.app with the subject "Child safety report".
What we do
- A person reviews every report. Child safety reports go to the front of the queue.
- We remove the content from the app straight away and keep a locked copy as evidence. Only staff responsible for legal matters can view it.
- We permanently ban the account.
- We report apparent child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, as US law requires (18 U.S.C. ยง 2258A), and preserve the report for one year.
- We work with law enforcement when they ask, and act at once if a child may be in immediate danger.
Viska's design
Viska is text only: there is no way to upload images or video. Posts have no names or profiles, there are no private messages, and shared posts are deleted after 24 hours. Every report is reviewed by a person.
